The challenge
The customer needed two industrial fans to handle substantially different airflow and pressure requirements.
A primary challenge was developing an efficient radial-tip fan configuration without requiring an unnecessarily large motor. The fan needed to deliver the specified performance while keeping motor size and power requirements manageable.
The equipment also needed to accommodate project-specific installation requirements, including connection dimensions and equipment configuration.
The solution
Dynamic Air Solutions worked closely with the customer to develop fan configurations tailored to the applications.
For the larger system, the team helped engineer a modified radial-tip wheel within a backward-inclined fan housing. This custom arrangement was selected to meet the required airflow and pressure while addressing efficiency and motor-sizing concerns.
The larger AirPro BIHS 490 fan was configured to deliver 46,000 ACFM at 7 inches of static pressure, using a 75 HP motor.
A separate P06D 235 high-pressure blower was supplied for a different operating requirement, delivering 636 ACFM at 34 inches of static pressure.
Both fans incorporated application-specific components and installation features to meet the customer’s requirements.
Equipment & components
Modified radial-tip centrifugal fan
An AirPro BIHS 490 with a modified radial-tip wheel incorporated into a backward-inclined housing, configured for 46,000 ACFM at 7 inches of static pressure.
High-pressure blower
An AirPro P06D 235 designed to deliver 636 ACFM at 34 inches of static pressure for a lower-volume, higher-pressure application.
Motor and drive systems
A 75 HP motor with belt drive for the larger fan and a 10 HP explosion-proof motor for the smaller blower.
Custom installation features
Specified inlet and outlet dimensions, mounting arrangements, protective guards, and coatings to accommodate the customer’s equipment requirements.
Results
Key outcomes:
- Two custom fan systems supplied for different operating requirements
- Modified radial-tip wheel incorporated into a backward-inclined housing
- Larger fan configured for 46,000 ACFM with a 75 HP motor
- Custom equipment configurations developed to address installation requirements
- Both fan systems installed and operating successfully
Dynamic Air Solutions worked with the customer through fan selection and custom configuration to develop equipment suited to the facility’s requirements. Both systems are now up and running.
